Canyon Ridge went 1-23 overall last season and the loss of seven seniors could make the upcoming campaign a challenge.

Last year marked the second in a row that the Riverhawks had won just one game overall, giving the squad a combined eight victories in three seasons.

Head Coach Jacoby Fox enters his fourth season on the sideline in Twin Falls looking to reverse the fortunes for the program with some new talent ready to do the same.

The previous couple seasons for Canyon Ridge have shown glimpses of potential for the squad with some competitive games being played throughout. For a turnaround to occur this time around, Fox will need to find some depth to allow his team to remain fresh late in games.

Keion Peterson, Bailey Hiebert and Chase Steinmetz will be expected to lead the way on the floor this winter for the Riverhawks. Each will see their workload increased from last year. The trio also should provide the majority of the leadership for a relatively young core of players.

On the hardwood Fox and his coaching staff will be looking to ignite a turnaround similar to the one seen on the gridiron this fall with the Canyon Ridge football team making some noise in the 4A Great Basin West Conference.

Fortunately for the Riverhawks, outside of Twin Falls and Burley, league play should be wide open this season.

The squad was able to compete well with Jerome, Wood River and Minico on certain occasions last year and the task now will be to find a way to stick with those teams for a full 32 minute game.

Fox will look to utilize what should be an improved backcourt to play an up-tempo style of basketball. With the fast-paced style it will again be important for Canyon Ridge to find multiple players who are able to adequately be plugged into the system to allow breathers for the starting five.

Overall the team appears to be one of the more athletic in Fox’s time as coach, something which should help to potentially bring some more wins.

It will be important for the Riverhawks to get a strong start to the season to build a winning mindset and show that this is a new year and a new way. Some young talent will be relied upon to help make that happen.
