There will be a lot of new faces for the Centennial Patriots this year, as they graduated eight seniors from last year’s team. Coach Tom Aipperspach, coaching his 28th year, is excited about his young roster and says they are very hungry to learn and get started.

The Patriots return junior guard Taylor Wallick, junior forward Kendall Williams, and sophomore Brooks King from last year’s squad that finished the year with a 12-13 underachieving record.

Newcomers for Centennial include junior post Conner Desaulniers, junior guard Eric Brocke, and sophomore guard Del Jackson. These new Patriots should provide a bigger presence inside and help on the perimeter, a place where Centennial struggled shooting the ball last season.

When I asked Coach Aipperspach about his outlook for the year he had this to say: “I think we will be far more athletic than we have been in the past. We like to run multiple defenses and like to use the entire court to put pressure on our opponents. Our athleticism should help us to have better on ball defense and the ability to create more turnovers, areas that we struggled to do consistently last season.”

With their added size, the Patriots should be able to match-up better with their opposition this year. Their size should help them get easier buckets, and help them control the glass and tempo of the game. This might be a rebuilding/learning year for the Patriots, but don’t be surprised if they turn some heads as they get some must needed experience underneath their belts.

GAMES TO WATCH: Centennial will only play rival Boise High once this season and that game takes place @ Centennial on January 24, 2015. Boise won all three meetings last year.
