When you think of the Burley boys basketball program, you usually think of sharp shooters, short in stature, and very quick. Well, this year might be a little different for 14th year head coach, Jack Bagley.

Although the Bobcats will have Britton Garrard, Braydn Bell, and Ryan Bagley to maintain the perimeter play, Burley can actually trot some height on to the floor this season, something they are not very used to having.

“We have a little bit of size this year. This is something we haven’t had that much of in a few years so we will be trying to work the ball inside more,” says Bagley.

Recently graduated Mackinley Quast will be missed for his leadership and 3-point shooting, but the Bobcats always seem to have a factory of shooters who give opposing teams fits.

The Bobcats like to play fast. They get up and down the floor but with that comes the occasional defensive lapse, something that Bagley would like to work on this year. Burley, although quick, has had some problems stopping dribble penetration and keeping the ball out of the paint.

In recent years, Burley has not had the size to deal with many strong opposing post players, but this year might be a little different. However, it will come down to the defense of Burley to keep the ball in front of them on the perimeter.

Looking at the schedule, big games await the Bobcats. Circle January 8th on the calendar as the Minico Spartans come to town in one of the biggest rivalry games in Idaho.
