Austyn Sherman, DB/RB, Filer was able put him on wide receivers one-on-one and that really helped out with defensive planning.
Joe Barnes, DB/WR, Joe was the number one Defender. He also made the defense tough with his coverage.

A senior-heavy roster with plenty of varsity experience has brought expectations as high as at any point in the last decade for Filer, as the school looks to break out and head towards a winning record this season.
Third year head coach Rob Anderson has done a good job of slowly starting to build the football program. While the wins have not come as consistently as Anderson and his staff would have liked in the first two years, this third season has the potential to see the Wildcats get to the four or five win mark, with the ability to get more depending on how things shape out.
To start the task list, an experienced offense has to deal with the loss of leading rusher Josh Hughes, a load out of the backfield who was tough to take down.
Garet Jardine will again man the quarterback position, with a backfield by committee approach around him including Skyler Borrayo, Kyle Sanford and Brogan Wells. Bryer Monson and Andrew Garcia represent weapons for Jardine to throw the ball to.
“Our strength will be experience. Most of these seniors have been playing varsity since they were sophomores, some since they were freshmen. We will draw a lot on that experience on the field and in leadership roles,” said Anderson.
The defense kept Filer in multiple games last season, but also struggled to slow down teams like North Fremont and Gooding. In rematches against those opponents this year it will be interesting to see if the Wildcats can slow them down a bit more.
“Experience will again be a strength. We want our players to be quick and react fast,” said Anderson.
He liked the physicality and swarming to the ball mentality of last year, and hopes that continues this season.
“[We hope to] not improve, but maintain our defensive aggression. We will replace a lot of solid players and we hope to keep our scheme in tack.”
James Turner is a player to watch on the defensive line.
A fair numbers of players will go two-ways for Filer including Monson, Borrayo, Garcia, Sanford and Wells.
One of the nice things for Anderson and his staff moving forward is a group of 30 returning freshmen and sophomores that will battle for playing time this year.
“It will be exciting to see the chemistry of the team come together,” added Anderson.
Filer begins the 2018 campaign at home against North Fremont prior to three consecutive road games against Marsh Valley, American Falls and Homedale.
